Actual install of GNU/Linux system?

The actual install involves backing up data and predetermine space requirements for you new Linux system on your machine.

You will need to before hand create a bootable USB pen drive or DVD as per your requirement and boot from the same.

Most important step involves the partitioning the hard-drive for installation, which can be done during the installation process. Most commonly you will need to make a root part (/), /efi (for new machines) and /home for users.

A generous 20 to 50 GB is a good start for installing you system.  You can go through the video to see a complete installation video (actual on the laptop) below.
